Born into a musical family from Louisiana, Batiste learned to play several instruments including the melodica—something similar to a harmonica with a keyboard. The Julliard grad used a New Orleans influence to create what he termed “social” music—a combination of jazz, blues and gospel to reflect today’s diversity. You can’t help but get energized as he plays with his Stay Human band.
Every night is a fashion show with Jon Batiste. This man knows how to dress!
And he’s hilarious…Watch his video on fashion tips.
His same, upbeat attitude is carried into his wardrobe.
As he once said in an interview with Barneys of New York, his style is “traditional with a twist.” He’s fortunate to have what most men would love to have—the perfect body shape. Broad shoulders, trim waist, narrow hips and tall frame make it easy to wear just about any style he wants!
And talk about fit!
Suit coats and jackets are slim or fitted with any of three basic collar styles. Most often they come to the hip with a double vent in the back for added mobility to play that melodica. Because this guy is on the move we’ll forgive him if he doesn’t always follow the rules for buttoning suit coats.
Jon’s still into skinny pants but we think he’ll catch the trend towards those that are not quite as fitted. Whether cropped above the ankle or long with a break, both styles demand kick-ass sneakers that usually match his outfit. Let’s just say you won’t find the traditional black/brown shoes here.
We’ve established the guy has the physique of a model and can wear anything.
It’s how he manages to pull it off night after night that we admire. He can give flair to outfits that are monochromatic whether muted, dark or extremely bold in color. His choice of pattern and ability to mix and match effortlessly captures our envy.
We hope he’ll continue to surprise us each night.
